Early Life and FamilyBranford Marsalis, an American jazz musician, was born in in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. He comes from a highly influential jazz family, with his father, Ellis Marsalis, being a legendary jazz pianist, and four of his six brothers also becoming notable jazz musicians. His brother, Wynton Marsalis, is often referred to as the unofficial "minister of jazz" in the United States due to his role as the artistic director of the renowned program, 'Jazz at Lincoln Center.'
